Abstract
For i.r.spectra of coal, very strong absorption band near 1600cm-1 is discussed.Coals were hydrogenolysed, oxidized, methylated, acetylated, or reduced with LiAlH4, then i.r.spectra of the products were measured and compared with that of original coal. The following conclusions about the absorption band at 1600cm-1 were obtained.
1.The absorption band at 1600cm-1 is the band which has connection with oXygen in coal.
2.The part of absorption at 1600cm-1 is due to hydrogen bonded carbonyl group.
3.The rate of the absorption intensity which is due to hydrogen bonded carbonyl to total absorption intensity at 1600cm-1 is 10-30%which is changed by coalification grade.
