Abstract

Smoke produced by the combustion of fuelsis one of the commonest constituents of air pollution.First thing, we must use the smokeless, ashless fuels.
One type of apparatus used to study the smoking tendency of Coals.
The nature of the fuel and the conditions of mixing with oxygen are amongst the most important factors determning soot emission.
One example of the coal firing method is represented.
But Soot is the important matter because radiation from luminous flames is emitted by incandescent carbon particles which exist in flames under certain combustion conditions.
Soot is a highly variable substance, both in particle seize and chemical composition. The chemical processes leading to the formation of carbon in flames are by no means full understood.
Studies of the effect of pressure, temperature, hydrocarbon type, additives on Soot formation from flames are reported.
