Abstract
Simultaneous saccharification and fermentation (SSF) is expected to increase efficiency of ethanol production. Saccharomyces cerevisiae, which convert sugars to ethanol, became inactive at high temperature and in the presence of fermentation inhibitor. Therefore we investigated the effect of preculture condition on SSF. As a result, preculture and SSF at 35 ℃ was the highest ethanol production because the yeast could obtain thermotolerance.
