Abstract
Oleaginous yeast accumulates lipid in the cell under the nitrogen limited culture condition. Utilization of the sugar derived from locally produced lignocelluloce biomass as a carbon source for oleaginous yeast is received with much attention. To achieve efficient lipid production, it is necessary to understand lipid accumulation mechanism(s) of oleaginous yeast. In this work, we created the mutants of oleaginous yeast, Lipomyces starkeyi and Rhodosporidium toruloides, and selected by utilizing the cell-sorter. Isolated mutants showed enhanced lipid production.
