The lighting plan for the Gifu Station North Plaza completed after 5 years work. Our first design goal was to portray the features of Gifu. We illuminated the horseshoe-shaped pedestrian deck with blue LEDs to express the Nagaragawa River as the local symbolic character. The second design goal was to create smooth flow of people. We clarified the locations of bus terminal, taxi stand, and elevators by illuminating the shelters. And the third design goal was to create vibrant atmosphere with energy-saving lighting. We composed daily color-changing LED lighting programs with fountain patterns and music, inspired from local culture.
