Outdoor illuminations at night time are no longer dispensable in daily life. Many outdoor illuminations are used at night for convenience and much energy is consumed. The energy consumption rate can be reduced, however, with preserving or improving the convenience by introducing more efficient and adequate illumination configurations. Such introducing efforts will directly lead to recovering or preserving the beautiful starry sky. I will describe some considerations that will lead to the preservation of astronomical observing environment.
