Using a digital electronic computer, the program and an example of calculations for designing highway lighting are described. The mean value and uniformity of illumination on the highway and the photometric data of a luminaire are given as input to the computer. Then the optimum height, interval and inclination of luminaires in setting are obtained as output from the computer.
