In this paper, we analyzed the equivalent circuit for the ceramic EL lamp and made both electrical and optical studies on the phosphor layer.
For an electrical study of the phosphor layer, we measured the impedance of the phosphor layer and examined the changes depending on the thickness of the phosphor layer and the phosphor concentration.
As the result of an optical study of the phosphor layer, the relation between the light emission B and the mean field strength Eφ could generally be expressed as;
B=αexp (-√E0/Eφ)
On the actual ceramic EL lamp, the above relation was experimentally verifield and at the same time, another study was maede of the optical influence on the light emission. Lastly we compared theoretical values with measured ones of both the thickness of phosphor layer which will be able to produce the maximum brightness and its brightness.
