Basic properties for color appearance are described by the CIE color spaces.
A chromaticity diagram (a', b') for the CIELAB color space and modifica-tions are presented. The calculation of colors of equal perceived blackness (brilliantness) and whiteness and some relationships of visual opponent pro-cesses with threshold and scaling data are shown. Visual properties and basic visual coordinates are discussed and applied to the description of chomatic adaptation.
