Preparation of fine iron sulfide particles in a vibrating ball mill by the reaction of iron ball with sulfur powder was invesigated, Effects of temperature, time and charged weight of sulfur to prepare the iron sulfide particles were discussed, Catalytic activity of the iron sulfide particles on a hydrogenation of phenanthrene and coal liquefaction has been observed.
