The thermochemical recuperative hydrogen production by rapid steam gasification of brown coal was examined at a heating rate of 80K・s-1 by using a thermobalance reactor. The effects of temperature and heating rate on pyrolysis and steam reforming reactions were investigated at 1073-1173K. The complete steam gasification was found to be achieved within 170s at 1173K and within 1000s at 1073K.
