The change of solvent swelling behavior and amount of oxygen-containing functionality such as carboxyilic acid and phenolic hydroxyl functionality in coal have been investigated which were induced by preheating in the range of 150〜400℃. It was found that there were significant coal rank dependence on those phenomena.
