The Osaki Coolgen Project began in April 2012 as an “Integrated coal Gasification Fuel Cell combined cycle (IGFC) demonstration project” subsidized by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. This project aims to realize innovative low-carbon coal-fired thermal power generation that combines IGFC, an extremely efficient coal-fired thermal power generation technology, with innovative CO₂ capture technologies. The first stage of this project, to demonstrate the oxygen-blown Integrated Coal Gasification Combined Cycle (IGCC), started in March 2017. The following will explain the project outline.
