Coal blending effect on spontaneous combustibility was studied with laboratory scale test using Spontaneous Ignition Tester (SIT-2, Shimadzu Corporation) and field test using 150-ton simulated pile. Indonesian lignite and Indonesian bituminous coal were used as the sample. The laboratory scale test results showed that increase in blending ratio of bituminous coal leads to decrease in spontaneous combustibility. The field test results also supported the laboratory scale test results that coal blending is effective for suppressing spontaneous combustibility.
