Coal Adiabatic Spontaneous Heating (CASH) of two coals with very similar analysis but very different heating properties and their mixtures was observed with the CASH measurement apparatus under the oxygen flow by starting at 35°C. The blending of the reactive coal with the much less reactive coal is found to accelerate the heating of the mixtures much more than that expected on their mixing weight ratios. The mobility of the active oxygenating species among the coal particles is postulated in addition to the thermal acceleration by the reactive coal.
