The use of biomass is being considered as a means to achieve carbon neutrality, but little progress has been made in the use of marine biomass. One of the reasons is the high ash content. In this presentation, we report on the analysis results of organic and inorganic components of two large seaweeds, Undaria pinnatifida (Wakame) and luminaria (Kombu), using solid-state NMR and other analytical techniques in order to investigate the chemical form of ash components.
