Abstract
Biomass pitch materials were prepared from oil palm trunk(OPT) or its saccharification residue(SR) by extraction with mixed solvent of phenol and ethyleneglycol, exhibiting the good thermal stability at their high yields. The biomass pitch gave the carbon fibers of which diameter were uniformly around 10 μm. In addition, it was found that the thermal solvent extraction selectively separated the lignin fraction from lignocellulosic biomass such as OPT.
