Abstract
A bench-scale hydrogen production-storage-utilization system, "Pure Hydrogen Energy System", was constructed in Fukushima Renewable Energy Institute, AIST (FREA). This hydrogen energy system involves solar photovoltaic/thermal panels, water electrolyzers/fuel cells, metal hydride (MH) tanks, heat storage tank, cooling tower and their auxiliaries. In the present study, we focus on introduction of hydrogen storage system and presentation of hydrogen absorption of the MH tank with 70 kg LaNi_5. This MH tank was able to absorb hydrogen at the constant flow rate of 15-45 NL/min. Based on these results, we discuss the hydrogen absorption operation under the higher hydrogen flow rate of 83 NL/min (5 Nm^3/h), which is the maximum hydrogen flow rate of the water electrolyzers.
