Abstract

This is a study of the Square in the primitive ages. In this study, I make a trial of arrangement of the archaeological results from the view-point of landscape architecture.
In the former term of Jyomon-jidai, the loop or U-shaped settlements and their central Squares are observed. And in the middle and latter term, they are observed with generalities.
In the age of Yayoi, the duplex structure is actualized in the settlement of Sippe, and I suppose the Squares corresponding to it.
