This study intends to lead a method which developes the space and resources for recreational uses from the standpoint of regional open space and recreation planning.
Chugoku region which is composed with Okayama, Hiroshima, Yamaguchi, Tottori and Shimane prefecture was selected as study area.
There are so many approaches to these researches but it was tried to analize the recreational potentiality in this area from the aspect of the evaluation of resources in this study.
After we recognized the backgrounds of resources, the evaluation of them was tried through three steps which are suggested as follows:
1. Evaluation for potential value of resources which holds in themselves....It was discussed bout five items which are number of visitors, capasity of lodging, number of approach routes, number of incidential resources and designated or not as national park.
2. Evaluation for potential value of resources which changes with raod development in future from the point of time perspective....It was discuseed from the aspect of time difference between existing raoad and proposal road.
3. Evaluation for potential value of resources which are developed for recreational uses....In this step, the results of above two steps were together and then these resources were classified into three categories such as major resources for regional scale, major resources for area scale and major resources for spot.
Through these three sreps, the resources of study area were grouped as proposal recreational development zone.
a. Multi-purpose zone for regional scale
b. Multi-purpose zone for area scale
c. Single-purpose zone for regional scale
d. Single-purpose zone for area scale
In this study the potentiality of this area for recreational development was discussed from an aspect of resources and moreover the potential energy of human behavior for recreation and relaxation activity in regional open space and recreation area has to be discussed in future.
