Abstract

In order to calculate the carrying capacity of lawns-area, it is important to know user, s behaviour. Therefore in this paper, we attempted to investigate the utilizing condition of lawns-area in more detail. The results of this investigation may be summarized as follows.
1. It was found that the average number of the user of lawns-area which was the aim of this study were counted about one-third of the people who came and used lawns-area of Shinjuku-Gyoen Park.
2. The peak of the user of lawns-area is in April and May when lawns area sprouted, then June, September and October follow this.
It become clear that the number of the user of lawns-area and yields of lawns were contrary to each other.
3. On sunday, user is five or six times on roughly average as many on weekday (twice as minimum and ten times as maximum).
On saturday, it shows similar utilizing tendency as weekday.
4. The user's movements are devided into some items according to their characteristics. Average movements are 52% for restings, 36% for idling and 12% for sporting.
5. The ratio of respective use is clearly different between grow-up person and children. The ratio of sporting use is high and the one of resting and idling is low in case of children.
6. In fine weather the percentage of resting is much higher than the one of cloudy weather.
7. Groups of grow-ups spent 109 minutes (mean) on the lawns-area, the items are 63 minutes for resting, 32 minutes for sporting and 14 minutes foridling. A rendezvousing couple stayed 80 minutes (mean), the items are 75 minutes for resting, 5 minutes for idling. Groups of children stayed 89 minutes (mens), the items are 39 minutes for resting, 23 minutes for sporting and 27 minutes for idling.
8. It became clear that the 38 different species of active recreation were played on the lawns-area.
9. It becomes clear that 2 species of movements to form 70% of the whole sports on the lawns-area. One is composed of “running and walking” and other is composed of “throwing and hitting”.
