Abstract

In order to utilize for the vegetation management, we made a landscape simulator of Katsura imperial garden using a plant modeling and visualization system, AMAP LANDMAKER, which runs on a IRIS VGX. We made a translating program, which runs on a PC, from the database of trees to the seen file of AMAP. Nine architectures and some other elements were modeled using Architrion II, which runs on a QUADRA 700. In spite of some deficiencies in modeling of the special form of garden trees, stones and other natural elements, we could get landscape images in high quality from any viewpoint. This simulator is useful not only for the vegetation management but also for various fields of landscape architecture.
