Abstract

In the previous report, it was concluded that the X-ray diffraction method was most reliable for determining the orientations of single crystals of aluminium, In the present paper, a simplification of analysis of the transmission Laue photograph was studied to make the determination of orientations easy. The photograph was taken in this methed with lower voltage than in conventional way to get only severa main spots of (100), (110), (111), (112), (113) and (133) on the film so that the determination of orientations could be made directly. Standerd patterns of (100), (110) and (111) Laue spots were obtained by taking the transmission Laue photographs of aluminium single crystal for various incident angles. From these standard patterns, the charts were preparaed for identifying the indices of those spots in Laue photographs. Thus, the orientation of crystal could be calculated from the spots indexed by the chart. This method is also applicable to the deter mination of orientations of other face-centered cubic metals.
