Abstract
This study is of obtaining an experimental equation by which the maximum extrusion pressure may be calculated.
The 6063 billets carted in permanent mold which have circular and square sections were extruded by 600 ton-vertical type oil hydraulic press.
Authers obtained the next experimental equation, and found that the equation will be reliable with ±3% error and be able to be applied for other sectional extrusions.
P=9.95(t/305)0×(βlogeA/a+4μ0L/D)
λ0=1.70(v/10)-0.108
μ0=0.52-1.054log(t/305)
P: Maximum pressure of extrusion kg/mm2
t: Extrusion temperature °C
v: Extrusion speed m/min
L: Length of billet mm
D: Diameter of billet mm
β: Shape factor
β=1 For extrusion of the circular section
0.90<β<1 For extrusion of the square section and A/a=Cross sectional area of billet/Cross sectional area of extruded product: Extrusion ratio.
