Fe, Co, Ni, Co-Ni, Fe-Ni, and Fe-Co were electrodeposited into micropores in oxide films on aluminum produced in a sulfuric acid bath. The coercive force varies from about 0.6K Oe of Ni to about 3.2K Oe of Fe-Co (Co 40%) alloy. Excellent squareness ratios are observed in every deposits except Co and Co rich alloys. The recording density is calculated to be approximately 14K BPI in Fe-Ni (Ni 20%) alloy at about 3 μm in thickness. The vertical anisotropy leads to better results.
