Abstract
The loading phenomenon and accompanied phenomena were studied in grinding commercial pure aluminum and cast aluminum alloys. The loading commerial pure aluminum is of the adhesion type. It grows and peels off frequently. Growth of the loading causes overgrinding and ground surface coarsening. A grinding force is small at the portion where a large grinding force has occurred at the preceding grinding cycle. These phenomena are same as that in dry cutting. Same type of loading occurs in grinding. The loading grows three dimensionally and the profile of ground surface depends on its shape. It seems to grow monotonusly in spite of occurrence of peeling. The loading of AC8A-T6 is of filling type and grows gradually. Occurrence of the loading does not directly bring rough surface finish.
