Abstract
Yogurt containing Bifidobacterium was given to 10 healthy persons (from 20 to 60 years old) for 6 weeks. The subjective comments and biochemical findings in blood were examined. Frequencies and qualities of stool became normal and constipation or diarrhea was not recognized, appetite was also stimulated, and intestinal function showed good control. There were no side effects or discomfort comments in any of the cases. Biochemical findings such as protein, lipid in serum and liver function before and after administration of ydgurt were not changed. The number of Bifidobacterium in feces increased over than tenfold compared with before administration and the concentration of NH3-N in feces decreased by the yogurt administration.
