Abstract
The paper describes a corrective scheme for the maintenance of production processes whose capabilities are deteriorating in service. The analysis is based on Markov models of parallel lot-production processes and proposes the application of sampling inspection. The methodology outlined in the paper is limited to two areas : 1) maintenance of those particular processes whose efficiency decreases with use, and 2) maintenance of all the processes some of which become inefficient. Although this study is carried out from a particular standpoint, it claims that the function of sampling inspection can be extended beyond its original purpose to measure process control in general.
