Abstract
One of the most important problems for a scheduling system in job shop environment lies in the difficulty of estimaitng a reasonable shop time. Among several elements which affect the shop time, queue time cannot so easily be estimated as others. In this paper shop time in a parallel work center is investigated and the estimation formula for mean queue time is developed. Approximations are satisfactory if the equation is used under normal conditions and are quite close to M/M/s.
