Production Planning System under Multiple Criteria : A Study on Hierarchical Production Planning System

Abstract

This paper presents a method of designing an efficient production planning system under multiple criteria. First, a basic production model can clarify the relationship between the production planning rules and the buffer inventory role in terms of impact on the system performance : shortage of products for marker demand, average inventory level, ratio of setup time, and deviation in production rate. Second, based on the results of analysis, this paper presents a method for selecting an appropriate production planning rule and setting an adequate buffer inventory level, if policies concerning the production are given.
