Abstract
This study is concerned with aging characteristics of jobs performed by blue-collar workers in the transportation industry. The questionnaire method is used to evaluate the abilities essential to perform transportation jobs. They are classified into one of three categories based on factor analysis ; intelligence or mental capability, sensitivity to acoustic and visual stimuli, and physical strength. For each job-category the optimum and the critical age for job performance are derived. The labor conditions necessary for aged employees are addressed. Our research reveals that truck drivers have the most difficulty in continuing their work through aging.
