Abstract
Using ship-borne ultrasonic wave meter which is combined by accelerometer and ultrasonic range meter, measurement of ocean wave was tried to be put into practice at the testing ship which was moving on. After some improvement of that meter ability, obtaining of data was become to be more certain. As the results of discussion on the encounter wave character, the obtained wave frequency is different according as ship's speed and encounter angle to wave direction. Although it is possible to measure the original wave height without any condition, there are some sailing condition to estimate the original wave frequency from obtained encounter wave frequency. Some results of the encounter wave measurement are shown and the usefulness of ship-borne wave meter are discussed in this paper.
