Two methods for calculating the impedance and the coupling coefficient by the finite element method is discussed. One is based on magnetic field analysis and circuit analysis, the other is based on magnetic field analysis. There is a complete agreement between results obtained by the methods. The methods are applied to the induction heating cooker and the leakage transformer, and the accuracy is investigated quantitatively. There is a good agreement between the analyzed result and the experimental one. It is shown that a thickness of elements near the surface of conductor should be shorter than 1/3 of skin depth of eddy current in high-frequency analysis.
