Abstract
Recentry, the Auxiliary Resonant Commutated Pole (ARCP) inverter is noticed. The advantages of the ARCP inverter are as follows:
Switching losses can be reduced utilizing soft-switching
As excessive voltage stress does not induced to the primary switches, there is no need to have high voltage ratings on the switching devices compared to the voltage of the DC source
Conduction loss of the resonant inductor is small because resonant circuit is used only at commutation period
PWM control can be applied
Then, the ARCP inverter is expected to achieve high frequency switching, high power and high efficiency conversion.
However, the ARCP inverter has some practical problems. One is that the resonant inductor and capacitors need to be selected to minimaze circuit losses. Another one is the detection of inductor current for compensating losses of the resonant circuit. And the last oneis the surge voltage on the diode in the auxiliary circuit caused byits recovery current.
This paper presents the methods to solve these problems.
