Abstract

The objective of bridge management is to allocate and use the limited resources balancing between lifetime reliability and life-cycle cost in an optimal manner. In this paper, estimation of the road bridge's life span based on practices of bridges replacement was attempted and the survival curve of the bridges was also estimated by KaplanMeier's method. We suggested a new bridge management method by using the modern portfolio theory in financial engineering and a evaluation of promotion efficiency of renewal of the future bridge.
