Abstract

Main management issues in the Japanese accommodation industry include low productivity rate, chronic shortage of employees due to high employee turnover rate, and multilingual service for foreigners visiting Japan. In addition, COVID-19 brought a new issue of providing contactless services. Given these circumstances, one of the solutions to be considered is adopting IT and roboticization of the accommodation industry, and in fact, robot hotels such as HIS Group's "Henna Hotel" and China Alibaba Group's "FlyZoo Hotel'' have opened. Now that it is said that 49% of Japan's population can be replaced by AI and robots, how will the organizational model of the accommodation industry change? I have summarized the examples of typical accommodation facilities and categorized them in organizational models.
