Abstract
The aim of this paper is to clarify the relationship between tourism education and studies, and to discuss the meanings of a Social Science Course within a tourism curriculum. While tourism education in itself can be seen as education for career, its curriculum should consist of theoretical and practical courses on the basis of a holistic view derived from the outcome of tourism studies. If not, tourism education would place too much emphasis on practical education without prospective visions. A Social Science Course, as a theoretical course, would play a important role in a tourism curriculum, which can connect tourism studies with education and then can provide its curriculum with prospective visions.
