Abstract

The purpose of this study is to try to clarify the concept of consumer education and lifelong-learning, and to investigate a desirable relationship between them. Consumer education has to aim at self-reliance of the consumer. Also it must be the crux of the consumer education program to provide lifelong-learning in order to solve problems of dailylife. I did research about the actual conditions of an extension service at American university with advanced programs of this field. As a result, it is proposed that consumer education should have curriculum based on local level, in order to develop consumer education as a lifelong-learning.
