A recent trend concerning transaction troubles among consumers is that more and more young people are getting involved in such troubles. A previous survey, centered on mail order, revealed the fact that children were actually involved in troubles or were a target of advertisers and manufacturers. To deal with this situation, teaching materials and educational methods have been developed with the intention of helping children to develop abilities of decision-making in life. They are considered intentionally from the viewpoints of both manufacturers and consumers for intermediary organizations and those engaged in intermediary works between them. This is a report, as part of the above educational study, on development, practice and examination of an educational method using simulated troubles of transactions involving consumers. This method allows consumer consultants to work out solutions objectively from their positions as a way to make children study spontaneously.

Accounting services are important not only for shareholders and creditiors but also for many other interest-groups. Since consumers are included among these interest-groups, accounting information for the consumers is necessary. This include information on social performance, and its significance in the accounting framework is increasing. This tendency extends traditional accounting. Disclosure on accounting information proves the actual condition of an enterprise. With the growing concern over the environment, this paper asserts that an enterprise must disclose environmental information like accounting information. Furthermore in order to assure its reliability, an environmental audit is necessary.

The purpose of this study is to try to clarify the concept of consumer education and lifelong-learning, and to investigate a desirable relationship between them. Consumer education has to aim at self-reliance of the consumer. Also it must be the crux of the consumer education program to provide lifelong-learning in order to solve problems of dailylife. I did research about the actual conditions of an extension service at American university with advanced programs of this field. As a result, it is proposed that consumer education should have curriculum based on local level, in order to develop consumer education as a lifelong-learning.

We recently have more reports about trouble concerning treatment of clothes which may be caused by change of social conditions, technological innovation and oversupply of information. Labeling is useful information for consumers so that they can judge the quality of clothes and can use them safely. Regarding this, we did research in various areas including manufacturers marketing and came to a conclusion that further promotion of consumer education is essential by all parties concerned. From this point, we propose as follows: 1) Administrators should make concrete and updated information activities including proper instructions. 2) Private companies should introduce an accurate and simple labeling. 3) Consumers should learn scientific knowledge and should train themselves to use proper judgment. Besides, international agreement under the promulgation of international standard (ISO 3758) is urgently required.

At present we live in a society where food and clothing are in saturation, while the aged people have experienced both the shortage and abundance of materials during their life time.Consciousness of the aged on cloting and their concern toward resources and environment were investigated from the viewpoint of the lifestyle of the aged. Here, the following results obtained are reported. As cloting is not directly related to health, etc., it is not thought to be important. However, various types of clothes are available now and the fashion extends to all generations, which causes various modern problems. It is very important for us to find out by ourselves how to arrange our wardrobe, and what to do with our clothes. The relation of home life with environment is becoming closer, and we consumers are required to take responsibility with regard to cloting. Ordinary behavior in home life is highly related to the effective application of resources and environmental preservation. The aged are also responsible. Education of consumers including the aged is necessary.

We examined the relation between their cautionary labeling and the Labeling Act for Household Utensiles on commercially available detergents and textile goods. For detergents containing noxious substances, strong acid, and strong alkali, the cautions about a degree of danger and the first aid treatment for accident were seemed to be insufficient. Many inappropriate labeling were found in textile goods examined because of the appearance of various newly developed materials including their varieties of processing techniques, and the recent increase in imported clothes. Based on these conditions, we have proposed some definite problems such as `how to use new fabrics',`how to let people know the properties of new textiles', and cleaning methods to improve the way of labelings for modern textile goods.

Now, synthetic polymers make difficult problems for our environment. We examined the plastic caps of shampoo-containers comparing their weights and forms. 73 commercially available articles (56 of ordinary type and 17 of pump-type) were tested. Among the ordinary type, the cap-weights were distributed from 4.2g to 18.69. Generally, heavy caps had an appearent large space indifferent to their function and gave a preference to their designs. Although no marked difference in weight was found among the caps of pump-type, average weight (25.4g) was almost three-times that of the ordinary type and occupied around one-third of total volumes of the containers. Considering these data, we propose 1) the improvement of containers and suppression of excessive change of models for manufacturers,2)wise Selection for consumers, and 3)a facilitation of recycling of plastics by the governments concerned.
