This study investigated how financial literacy education, through the development of suitable liberal arts programs, could increase college students’ awareness regarding the significance of contributing to sustainable societies. The study discussed trends in financial behavior and levels of financial literacy, as well as discussing consumer citizenship by assessing attributes, previous financial education and financial literacy. The results indicated that respondents tend to pay bills on time, but are not accustomed to prioritizing the management of each billing cycle with a long-range focus. The respondents scored low in understanding the effects of inflation and income tax. Also, female students, students living alone, and students with work experience indicated lower levels of understanding for become consumer citizens.
