Abstract
A personal view which describes part of the events which led to the organization of the first International Conference on Crystal Growth, ICCG-1 Boston, MA 1966, to the formation of the Journal of Crystal Growth (first issue January 1967), the formation of the International Organization of Crystal Growth IOCG, July 1971 and the formation of many National Organizations of Crystal Growth including the American Association of Crystal Growth is presented in chronological order. The period covers the years 1962-1974 which are considered as important to build the foundation upon which the important institutions of the international community of crystal growth are based today (1985).
