Abstract
In-situ atomic force microscopy has been employed to investigate the surface structure of growing lysozyme crystals in aqueous solutions with various impurity concentrations. In high purity(>99.9%) lysozme solution.which was purified by high pressure liquid chromatography. the(101)surface showed welldeveloped flat terraces with molecular height steps, while the surface in lower purity solution was covered with a number of impurity particles.
