Abstract
Herein, we present the case of a man in his 50ʼs who was transported to the emergency room after receiving multiple stab wounds, predominantly to the perineum. Upon arrival, the patient was in shock. A perineal stab wound had penetrated the lower rectum, causing a urethral fissure, and showed full-layer wall damage to almost half of the structure. Transcatheter arterial embolization(TAE) was performed prior to surgery because the patient was in a state of shock from bilateral internal iliac artery bleeding. After stabilization, the patient was transported to the operating room. A urologist operated on the urethral laceration and scrotal incision, and an orthopedic surgeon on the skin incision. Attending surgeons performed a sigmoid colostomy after laparoscopy confirmed that there was no damage to intra-abdominal organs. This case shows that perineal injuries can cause damage to multiple organs; thus, accurate trauma evaluation and comprehensive treatment by multiple departments are required.
