Due to the development of technology, 5G, and the impact of COVID-19, online medical apps are becoming more well-known and used by more people. This study explores the factors that influence Chinese and Japanese users’ and potential users’ intentions to use online medical apps. Based on the UTAUT model in technology acceptance theory with the added external variable of reliability, this study analyzes responses of questionnaires on expected results, effort expectations, facilitating conditions, and social influence to investigate the impact of each factor on Chinese and Japanese users. The results show that Chinese users attach importance to effort expectancy, social influence, and facilitating conditions. On the other hand, Japanese users emphasize outcome expectancy and effort expectancy. These results will be useful for Chinese and Japanese companies in their strategies and marketing to promote online medical applications.
