Abstract

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to reveal the effects of manual lympho drainage(MLD) for Lymphoedema patients, a nd to make an analysis of the features of MLD through demographic data.

[Methods] Nineteen women with Lymphoedema (Upper extremity:11、Lowextremity: 8、meanage of 57.3 years±8.2 years) were cared for with MLD for about 50 minutes. A group underwent twice on different days the putting of a garment after MLD, B group was without one after MLD. They were measured from a rest position 2 hours after MLD by bio-impedance(Imp).

[Findings] The effects of MLD in the limbs of A group was significantly drained for 1 and 2 hours after MLD. (p<0.05) It showed the continued drainage by MLD for 2 hours.

The other B group, only left upper extremity was significantly drained.

Within the features of MLD by demographic data(age, classification, lebel of ADL, BMI, urination etc,.), it didn't show significantly to them.

It suggested that there is a need to do self-drainage, in the B group, as there wasno change Imp after MLD, and the garment constantly accelerated to drain for Lymphoedema.
