Design-Manufacture Interface: Production Information System for Metal Mold Manufacturing

Abstract

This paper presents designing a production information system for metal mold manufacturing. This system was designed to give useful information for interface between designing and manufacturing activities. The goal for designing an information system were stability in production, decreasing leadtime for design/manufacturing, quality improvement and information arrangement. First, this paper describes the production system for mold manufacturing, indicating the point at issue a newly developed production information system. The system designed for, this study showed more favorable results than the traditional system. The system designed has been useful tools as the decision support system for production control as well as the manufacturing lead time could be decreased and the office work could be simplified.
