Abstract

We have been engaged in research of DSS(decision support systems), which we call act DSS, including its development and applications. A DSS is supposed to support rational aspect of decision making. And to accomplish the requirement, it needs to use models. The MMS(model management systems) is characteristic of it. Models for a DSS must satisfy specific requirements. For instance,Non-professional people of computer must be able to construct, operate and modify DSS models easily. Most DSS models are constructed by arithmetic equations, and have comparatively simple but are mixtures of dynamic and static equations. Furthermore qualitative and non-numeric statements must be allowed for the models.

Although there may be other requirements, our experiences on constructions of specific DSSs tells us that a usable MDL(model description language) must satisfy at least these characteristics.

To satisfy these requirements, we propose a new MDL which is designed based on old MDL reported in [3]. As a result, the language satisfies them on a reasonable level.
