Abstract

Several statistical methods can be used to prevent the undesirable mingling in agricultural products. We first explain the statistical foundation of the official procedure of the Japanese import plant quarantine inspection to prevent the unintentional introduction of alien pests. Then, we explain the isolation distance required to prevent the mingling of genetically modified organisms in the conventional crop fields. The direction of future improvement is also discussed.
