Abstract
【Purpose】Laparoscopic low anterior resection for low rectal cancer has some technical difficult aspects. One of the difficulties in this procedure is setting the distal transaction line. Rectal prolapsing method is a solutions for this problem. In this report we present a rectal prolapsing method using endoscopy. 【Surgical technique】TME (Total mesorectal excision) is performed to the upper side of the anal canal. The proximal colon is transected intra-corporeally with an endoscopic stapler. The stump of the proximal colon is penetrated with a thread laparoscopically under the observation by endoscope inserted through the anus. And the thread is grasped by biopsy forceps using the endoscope. And the rectum is prolapsed by pulling out a biopsy forceps with endoscopy. All the process is easily checked by the endoscope. The prolapsed rectum is transected extracorporeally, confirming the appropriate distal rectal margin.
