Abstract
A 71-year-old man followed for 14 months by endoscopic mucosal resection being diagnosed with gastric cancer. There was a previous history of undergoing a low anterior resection of the rectum to treat a rectal cancer about 6 years ago. He was admitted to our hospital because a hepatic tumor. Abdominal CT revealed an irregular tumor about 3.5cm in diameter with the inside of the tumor heterogeneously imaged in liver S2. There were no abnormalities in examinations of the gastrointestinal tract. The tumor was diagnosed as an intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma, and lateral segmentectomy of the liver with regional lymph node dissection and partial resection of the postcaval vein. Pathological examination showed adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver. The patientʼs postoperative course was uneventful, but tumor recurrence occurred in the lung 11 months after the operation and he died of cancer 17 months after the operation. Primary adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver is relatively rare. Since adenosquamous carcinoma of the liver associated with asynchronous triple cancer occurring in the liver, stomach and rectum are rare, we report on this case with some bibliographical comments.
